Allow me to introduce you....

Every Therapist at Westmeath Counselling Service is fully qualified and accredited, with the exception of those on our student placement programme. They offer a wide range of interventions including, but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Person Centered, Schema Therapy, Solution Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. Each one brings a unique set of skills and expertise to our organization. 

Louise Yourell

Louise is the founder and Director of Westmeath Counselling Service, where she has been supporting people through change, healing and personal growth for over 20 years. She has worked in private practice since 2003 and established Westmeath Counselling Service in 2009. Her work is centred around meeting each person where they are, without judgement, and creating a safe space where they can explore what is happening in their lives at their own pace. She draws on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapts her work to the individual, recognising that no two people, experiences or journeys are the same.

Louise has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, teenagers and groups, as well as providing supervision for counsellors, therapists and students. She is an accredited Supervisor and a member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Alongside her counselling and supervision work, Louise is a Certified Eagala Practitioner, offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Equine Assisted Learning and personal development. Her work with horses brings another dimension to the therapeutic process, creating opportunities for connection, awareness, reflection and growth in a unique and experiential way.

Louise is also a qualified Energy Healer and incorporates energy work into her holistic practice, offering both in-person and online energy healing. This work reflects her belief that sometimes healing involves more than talking — it can also be about noticing what we carry in the body, recognising where we may feel stuck, and gently creating space for things to shift.

Mary O' Neill

Mary is an accredited IACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist. She holds a Practitioner’s Certificate in CBT and a Certificate in Mindfulness and Mindful living. Mary provides counselling in safe and confidential listening environment to clients for anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, low self esteem, family issues and work related issues. Mary is ASSIST trained and she also has experience of working with clients who are recovering from addiction, and with family members who are affected by a loved one’s addiction.

Rachelle Morgan

Rachelle is an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist (MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy; BA in Philosophy and Anthropology) with a background in psychology ( MA in Applied Psychology; Higher Dip. Psychology). She is a fully qualified therapist and a member of the APCP association, with additional training in ASIST, Cognitive behavioural therapy, Technologically Facilitated Therapeutic Engagement, and Couples therapy. She works with older teens (15+), adults and couples, online and in person.
Rachelle’s approach is built on the person-centred theoretical framework, which places emphasis on the client being met with empathy, compassion, a non-judgmental attitude, safety and warmth. Additional approaches utilised include CBT, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused, solution-based-focused therapy and trauma-informed practices. Rachelle has experience working with Stress, Depression, Self-esteem, Grief, Domestic abuse Recovery, Trauma, Anxiety, Living abroad transitions, Relationship issues, Academic/work-life challenges, Burnout, Family Issues, Anger Management, Attachment Issues, and concerns relating to LGBTQIA+


Niamh  Byrne

Niamh is a trauma-informed psychotherapist dedicated to creating a safe, compassionate space where healing can begin. She integrates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, tailoring each session to the individual needs of her clients.

With specialist training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and complex trauma, Niamh helps clients process and move through painful life experiences, including trauma, abuse, anxiety, and depression. Her work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens when we reconnect the mind and body in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

Niamh brings a wealth of experience from both community-based domestic violence services and primary care settings, offering grounded and sensitive support for a wide range of presenting issues.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and abides by its professional code of ethics.

Olive Buckley

Olive holds a BSc Hons Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from PCI College.  She completed a Certificate in Addiction Studies and a course in CAMS, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicide, Positive Behavioural Coaching and Mental Health First Aid. Olive is currently pursuing a Masters in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and she is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP).

Olive’s approach is person centred, humanistic and with an integrative style to best meet the needs of the client. She believes that an integrative approach is necessary to help build and nurture a therapeutic space for the client to explore their issues and build resilience to the challenges of life.  Olive believes that the client is always at the centre of the process and that in working collaboratively with the client supports the therapeutic relationship. She incorporates the theoretical approaches of Person-centred Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Reality Therapy which then enables her to work in a way that best suits the needs of each individual client.

Olive has worked in private practice since 2011 and has extensive experience working with adults who are experiencing suicidal ideation and/or self-harming. Olive’s experience also includes working with those who have been bereaved by suicide. She has experience of working with individuals on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, family relationship issues, bereavement, drug & alcohol addiction, sexual abuse/dysfunction, mental health issues and disabilities.

Dr Marina Dillon

Marina is a fully trained Counselling Psychologist having completed her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Trinity College Dublin. She has a MSc in Applied Psychology and BA(Hons) Psychology degree. Marina is a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and adheres to their code of ethics. Marina offers a service that can provide psychological intervention, psychotherapy, and assessment, where appropriate, for individuals across the lifespan. Marina works with both children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families.

Marina adopts an integrative approach to therapy by offering different therapeutic modalities and a more flexible and inclusive approach to treatment to best suit the unique needs of the individual. She blends humanistic, person-centred, existential, and attachment-based perspectives. She works with cognitive-behavioural, unified protocol, compassion-focused, emotion-focused, solution- focused, somatic, and systemic approaches. Marina employs play therapy and other non-verbal and creative mediums with younger clients.

Marina provides a warm, safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can feel comfortable and safe to freely explore their inner world. Marina helps individuals gain insights into their thoughts and feelings, develop a better understanding of themselves and their experiences, and supports them in their journey towards personal growth. The main benefits include improved self-esteem, greater self-acceptance, increased self-awareness, and a sense of empowerment.

Having worked both in child and adult mental health services in the HSE, Marina has dealt with a wide range of client presentations across all age groups, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, phobias, complex trauma, life transitions, dementia, bereavement, parenting and family issues, work-related issues, behavioural and learning difficulties, school refusal, bullying, sexual abuse, and developmental disorders.


Trudy Darling

Trudy is a person centred humanistic and integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. She has almost 20 years experience and is accredited member and Supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Along with her Masters in Play Therapy and in Sand Therapy, Trudy holds a post -grad in child psychotherapy and a Diploma in suicide studies. She is a trained Filial therapist and holds a qualification to assess children’s play skills.

Trudy works with Adults Teenagers and young children along with parents who may need support and guidance with their child. 

Andreea Nutescu

Andreea Nutescu, M. Ps. S.I (graduate member of PSI) is a Trainee Psychotherapist currently completing her Prof. Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at UCD. She holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology and brings years of frontline experience supporting young people in crisis, including those struggling with suicidal ideation and self-harm, as well as providing trauma-informed care in residential settings for young people from deeply challenging backgrounds. Her additional training includes HSE ASIST, Children's First, Becoming Trauma-aware, Child Sexual Exploitation, LGBTQ+ Awareness and Inclusion, Safe Talk, and more.

             Andreea offers a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space where she works with you to explore what lies beyond the suffering. Her psychoanalytic approach looks at the unconscious, not to dig up pain, but to help you understand the hidden wounds, old patterns, and hidden fears that may be holding you back, whether they come from childhood or adult life. She supports adults who are struggling with grief, depression, family and relationship issues, addiction, career concerns, and personal growth. There are no rush and no judgment, just a calm, caring space where you can feel safe enough to find your own truth. She offers sessions in both Romanian and English.

Claire Gleeson

Claire Gleeson, Chartered Counselling Psychologist

Claire Gleeson is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over 15 years of professional experience. She is registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland and is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based psychological support to individuals navigating a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.

Claire’s areas of specialisation include trauma—particularly childhood and developmental trauma and abuse—bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, and nervous system dysregulation. Her approach integrates trauma-informed and relational perspectives, supporting clients to understand their experiences, build emotional resilience, and foster a deeper sense of safety and connection within themselves and their relationships.

Claire is also an experienced clinical supervisor. 

With a warm, grounded, and collaborative style, Claire creates a therapeutic space that encourages healing, growth, and self-discovery. Her work is guided by a deep respect for each person’s unique story and capacity for change.

Roisin English

Róisín is a pre-accredited integrative counsellor with the BACP and is committed to providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where clients can feel heard, supported and understood.

 

Róisín worked in addiction services in the UK as a counsellor for many years. This experience has given her a deep understanding of the challenges people can face and the importance of being met with compassion, empathy and respect.

Róisín works collaboratively with clients, supporting them to explore their experiences and move towards positive change at their own pace.

Patrick Donnelly

Patrick provides both short term counselling and longer-term psychotherapy on a one-to-one basis in a confidential and safe environment including online.

His approach is grounded in Person-Centred Psychotherapy.

As a therapist he is guided by the needs and concerns of the person attending therapy. Following a Humanistic Integrative approach which practices the power of listening. Self-awareness can come from a person being fully heard and accepted without judgement.

The process empowers you to explore issues and understand thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours which cause suffering and facilitates the safe space to achieve greater awareness, insight, healing and growth. Working to develop the client’s own self-awareness and by doing so assist them in finding their own way forward through their difficulties.

Patrick recognises the individuality and unique potential of each person. I believe that a person is the expert to finding solutions to their own difficulties – with the therapist there to accompany, listen, encourage and guide. His aim is to support each individual as they gain an awareness, insight and understanding of their life challenges and problems and also supporting them in their journey towards acceptance and healing.

He is an accredited therapist with IAHIP, holds a BA degree in Philosophy and History, a BD degree in Theology and a MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Ann

Sheeran

Ann is a pre-accredited IACP Psychotherapist working towards obtaining full accreditation in the coming months. Ann is a Person Centred, Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist with extensive experience working with young adults and marginalised groups within a variety of therapeutic environments. 

 

Ann's Interventions are integrative and developed in collaboration with the client, utilising practices and principles from some of the following psychotherapeutic frameworks: Humanistic, CBT, Systemic, Psychosexual and Psychodynamic.

 

Ann considers the client as the expert of their own lives and therapy as a gentle holding space to explore this within the safe confines of the therapeutic relationship.

 

Along with her Masters in Psychotherapy, Ann is also trained in ASIST, Motivational interviewing and LGBTI+ training. She works with individual adults, older teens and couples.


June Clyne

June is a London trained Psychosexual and Relationship therapist. She obtained a Masters Degree in Sexuality Studies from DCU as is  accredited with COSRT. Psychosexual Therapy is Psychotherapy in relation to sexual issues, sexual dysfunctions and sexual relationship issues. Further issues dealt with are sexual compulsion and problematic sexual behaviour. June is also a fully trained EMDR Therapist and is ASIST Trained. She works with individual adults, and couples.

Caroline Tully

Caroline works with Individuals, Couples, Groups and is an accredited Supervisor with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. She holds a Diploma in Psychosexual therapy, and has extensive knowledge of Psychosexual issues. She has a deeply held belief that trust, respect, confidentiality and good professional boundries are essential in the therapeutic relationship, thus providing an environment for the client to explore all options and develop personal growth and resilience.
