Allow me to introduce you....

Every Therapist at Westmeath Counselling Service is fully qualified and accredited, with the exception of those on our student placement programme. They offer a wide range of interventions including, but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Person Centered, Schema Therapy, Solution Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. Each one brings a unique set of skills and expertise to our organization. 

Louise

Yourell

Louise is the founder and Director of Westmeath Counselling Service. She has been in Private Practice since 2003 and works from an Integrative approach using several methods of therapy. She is an accredited Supervisor and member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.  Louise has worked extensively with Individuals, Couples, Teens and Groups. She also provides Supervision, both in Counselling and across professions, for Accredited Therapists, Students and groups.

Louise is also a Certified Eagala practitioner, Providing Equine assisted Psychotherapy, Equine assisted Learning and Personal development.

Mary

O' Neill

Mary is an accredited IACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist. She holds a Practitioner’s Certificate in CBT and a Certificate in Mindfulness and Mindful living. Mary provides counselling in safe and confidential listening environment to clients for anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, low self esteem, family issues and work related issues. Mary is ASSIST trained and she also has experience of working with clients who are recovering from addiction, and with family members who are affected by a loved one’s addiction.

Eileen

Hannon

Eileen is an accredited Psychotherapist with IACP.  Eileen has completed workshops and seminars for Trauma, Sexuality, Suicidality, Loss and Bereavement. She has also completed the HSE SafeTALK , HSE ASIST  and HSE Understanding Self-Harm Awareness programme.

Eileen works with older teens and adults on an individual basis offering both face to face and online counselling. She provides support with anxiety, depression, loss, grief, bereavement, low self-esteem, communication issues, family/work/personal or relationships issues, sexuality, sexual identity, academic difficulties, stress and life coping skills. 

Barbara

Cullen

Barbara is a fully qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, holding a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy  She is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and adheres to its ethical and professional standards.

 Barbara is passionate about supporting individuals through life’s challenges and is committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic space. Her work is grounded in a Person-Centred approach, while also incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Choice Theory/Reality Therapy (CT/RT) to meet the unique needs of each client.

 

She works with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, childhood trauma, grief, addiction, loneliness, isolation, and relationship concerns. Barbara offers therapy to individuals across the lifespan, including older teenagers, and holds a Level 9 Certificate in CBT for Children and Adolescents. She is also trained in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).

 

Barbara is dedicated to empowering clients in their healing process, helping them to build resilience, insight, and a stronger sense of self.

Caroline

Tully

Caroline works with Individuals, Couples, Groups and is an accredited Supervisor with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. She holds a Diploma in Psychosexual therapy, and has extensive knowledge of Psychosexual issues. She has a deeply held belief that trust, respect, confidentiality and good professional boundries are essential in the therapeutic relationship, thus providing an environment for the client to explore all options and develop personal growth and resilience.


Laura

Ryder

Laura aims to provide a safe, confidential and comfortable space where adult individuals can work with her to find a better way forward. An early adopter of walk and talk therapy, she is a strong believer in nature as a helpful mental health resource and enjoys taking therapy sessions out into nature if the client wishes. Laura has extensively trained to become autism-informed and her practice is proudly neuro-affirmative. Clients with and without an official diagnosis are welcome. She is also interested in matrescence (the transition to motherhood) and is currently training in this area.

Laura is trained as a person-centred therapist, but in addition has a strong interest in working psychodynamically and will look to highlight patterns set up in the past that may be proving unhelpful in the present. She also enjoys facilitating clients who are looking to uncover meaning in their lives. Throughout your therapy you can count on Laura for compassionate straight talking as together you wander through your mind and figure out your best path forward.

Laura is fully accredited with the IACP.

Trudy

Darling

Trudy is a person centred humanistic and integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. She has almost 20 years experience and is accredited member and Supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Along with her Masters in Play Therapy and in Sand Therapy, Trudy holds a post -grad in child psychotherapy and a Diploma in suicide studies. She is a trained Filial therapist and holds a qualification to assess children’s play skills.

Trudy works with Adults Teenagers and young children along with parents who may need support and guidance with their child. 

June

Clyne

June is a London trained Psychosexual and Relationship therapist. She obtained a Masters Degree in Sexuality Studies from DCU as is  accredited with COSRT. Psychosexual Therapy is Psychotherapy in relation to sexual issues, sexual dysfunctions and sexual relationship issues. Further issues dealt with are sexual compulsion and problematic sexual behaviour. June is also a fully trained EMDR Therapist and is ASIST Trained. She works with individual adults, and couples.

Olive

Buckley

Olive holds a BSc Hons Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from PCI College.  She completed a Certificate in Addiction Studies and a course in CAMS, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicide, Positive Behavioural Coaching and Mental Health First Aid. Olive is currently pursuing a Masters in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and she is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP).

Olive’s approach is person centred, humanistic and with an integrative style to best meet the needs of the client. She believes that an integrative approach is necessary to help build and nurture a therapeutic space for the client to explore their issues and build resilience to the challenges of life.  Olive believes that the client is always at the centre of the process and that in working collaboratively with the client supports the therapeutic relationship. She incorporates the theoretical approaches of Person-centred Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Reality Therapy which then enables her to work in a way that best suits the needs of each individual client.

Olive has worked in private practice since 2011 and has extensive experience working with adults who are experiencing suicidal ideation and/or self-harming. Olive’s experience also includes working with those who have been bereaved by suicide. She has experience of working with individuals on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, family relationship issues, bereavement, drug & alcohol addiction, sexual abuse/dysfunction, mental health issues and disabilities.

Ann

Sheeran

Ann is a pre-accredited IACP Psychotherapist working towards obtaining full accreditation in the coming months. Ann is a Person Centred, Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist with extensive experience working with young adults and marginalised groups within a variety of therapeutic environments. 

 

Ann's Interventions are integrative and developed in collaboration with the client, utilising practices and principles from some of the following psychotherapeutic frameworks: Humanistic, CBT, Systemic, Psychosexual and Psychodynamic.

 

Ann considers the client as the expert of their own lives and therapy as a gentle holding space to explore this within the safe confines of the therapeutic relationship.

 

Along with her Masters in Psychotherapy, Ann is also trained in ASIST, Motivational interviewing and LGBTI+ training. She works with individual adults, older teens and couples.


Dr Marina Dillon

Marina is a fully trained Counselling Psychologist having completed her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Trinity College Dublin. She has a MSc in Applied Psychology and BA(Hons) Psychology degree. Marina is a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and adheres to their code of ethics. Marina offers a service that can provide psychological intervention, psychotherapy, and assessment, where appropriate, for individuals across the lifespan. Marina works with both children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families.

Marina adopts an integrative approach to therapy by offering different therapeutic modalities and a more flexible and inclusive approach to treatment to best suit the unique needs of the individual. She blends humanistic, person-centred, existential, and attachment-based perspectives. She works with cognitive-behavioural, unified protocol, compassion-focused, emotion-focused, solution- focused, somatic, and systemic approaches. Marina employs play therapy and other non-verbal and creative mediums with younger clients.

Marina provides a warm, safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can feel comfortable and safe to freely explore their inner world. Marina helps individuals gain insights into their thoughts and feelings, develop a better understanding of themselves and their experiences, and supports them in their journey towards personal growth. The main benefits include improved self-esteem, greater self-acceptance, increased self-awareness, and a sense of empowerment.

Having worked both in child and adult mental health services in the HSE, Marina has dealt with a wide range of client presentations across all age groups, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, phobias, complex trauma, life transitions, dementia, bereavement, parenting and family issues, work-related issues, behavioural and learning difficulties, school refusal, bullying, sexual abuse, and developmental disorders.


Rachelle Morgan

Rachelle is an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist (MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy; BA in Philosophy and Anthropology) with a background in psychology ( MA in Applied Psychology; Higher Dip. Psychology). She is a fully qualified therapist and a member of the APCP association, with additional training in ASIST, Cognitive behavioural therapy, Technologically Facilitated Therapeutic Engagement, and Couples therapy. She works with older teens (15+), adults and couples, online and in person.
Rachelle’s approach is built on the person-centred theoretical framework, which places emphasis on the client being met with empathy, compassion, a non-judgmental attitude, safety and warmth. Additional approaches utilised include CBT, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused, solution-based-focused therapy and trauma-informed practices

Niamh

Byrne

Niamh is a trauma-informed psychotherapist dedicated to creating a safe, compassionate space where healing can begin. She integrates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, tailoring each session to the individual needs of her clients.

With specialist training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and complex trauma, Niamh helps clients process and move through painful life experiences, including trauma, abuse, anxiety, and depression. Her work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens when we reconnect the mind and body in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

Niamh brings a wealth of experience from both community-based domestic violence services and primary care settings, offering grounded and sensitive support for a wide range of presenting issues.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and abides by its professional code of ethics.

Zita

Mahmood

Zita is a student counsellor and psychotherapist currently completing her Master’s in

Counselling and Psychotherapy, specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She blends the structure of CBT with a person-centred approach, tailoring support to each client’s individual needs. With a BA and MA in Social Psychology, Zita offers an informed, compassionate perspective. She has a special interest in integrating faith-based approaches for clients with spiritual or religious identities. Zita is ASIST-trained in suicide intervention and is currently training in bereavement counselling with the Irish Hospice Foundation. She is dedicated to providing a safe, confidential, and supportive space for healing.
